Background: The search for safe and alternative remedy rheumatic disorders from herbal resources is increasing nowadays hence the medicinal plants constitute a promising role in modern medication system due to presence of several bioactive compounds. people inhabiting forest areas are often affected with skeleton-muscular especially rhematic problems, present study was undertaken document used treat such diseases. Methods: carried out traditional knowledge treating rheumatism by Kani tribes who live KMTR region Southern Western Ghats Tamil Nadu, India. Extensive field studies were conducted five hamlets focusing on rheumatism. data collected using questionnaires, interviews discussions among practitioners other hamlet. Results: ethnobotanical survey has led documentation 59 species belonging 33 families. Of these, 26 major utilized while plant least quantity. Leaves widely against problems. formulations prepared form decoction, paste powder which administered topically or orally based disease condition. Conclusion: documented focus conserving ethnic as documentary evidence plant-based natural product research. Among plants, Cardiospermum halicacabum, Elettaria cardamomum, Elephantopus scaber, Cymbopogon citratus, Allium cepa, Sida acuta, Pergularia daemia, Lawsonia inermis frequently cited requires further pharmacological develop an effective drug chronic illnesses.
